Day 08 – Grand Junction, CO to Bryce Canyon to Cedar City, UT – July 2nd, 2007 – 406 miles

Starting off only 15 miles from the border we quickly found ourselves in the Utah deserts, which had a plethora of plateaus and mountains in the distance to look at. As we started to get to closer to the middle of Utah the road dipped and weaved through canyons and a national forest.

Taking a scenic byway we arrived at Bryce canyon and enjoyed the amazing rock formations that stretched on for miles. We did some short hikes because we were pressed for time. I would love to come back here to hike the longer trails down to the valley floor. I made up for yesterday by taking over a 100 photos, so I’ll try to pick out some of the best ones.

Leaving Bryce we happened to take another scenic road over some heavily forested mountains in Dixie National Forest reaching a peak of ten thousand feet before descending into a canyon on the far side. There seems to be a ton of wild life all over this corridor of Utah worth exploring.
